3. Thank you so much! We had to put our cat on a diet and it wasn’t working out. The reason why is because her poop was becoming bloody and since she couldn’t clean her butt she got stressed so she started biting on her legs and now she has two bald spots on her legs. So me and my dad have had to clean her butt. She gets that we’re trying to help her but it’s painful for her because she has so much poop on her butt cause she can’t clean she butt scoots and I’ve seen her bare butt once and it was blood red. But now that we’ve put her on a diet her poop isn’t bloody but she’s not getting skinnier.

12. help! my cat loves to dig at her bowl, bag, the walls all through the night to keep me up. she wakes me up every hour if i dont feed her so i give in. what should i do so i can actually get sleep? i am going to try moving her bowls out in the hallway or somewhere not in my room so she can go bug the air with her digging XD i also have the world pickiest cat. she wont eat any meat, i really wanted to eat raw and she refuses. she refuses any wet foot or wet treats, will only eat CERTAIN kibble. as of right now she will tolerate weight loss food from the vet but only for awhile, but loves their dental kibble

16. My cat doesn't like cat toys… He likes to be chased around and sneak. He use to be 16 pounds but now that I stopped free feeding him he lost 2 pounds and there is a huge difference in his looks. He got a neck! And back legs!

17. Raw food will give them heart problems. The “natural” grain/gluten free food trend, is all marketing. Also all these tips, other than raw food (which…no) are kind of obvious.

19. I have 6 cats, and one is very obese. She has been attacked by one of my other cats, so I have to keep them separated. She sleeps in my room and spends her time in my bedroom when I have to go out.
    I have to put her out of my room and put the other ones that bother her in my room for hours at a time and then switch them on and off all the time.
    I know she is not getting the best activity that way ….not even close. She has never eaten buffet styled ( grazing) She and my others, get their meals at a given time, and she does not eat very much at that given time.
    I know another problem is that she will not touch wet food. I had tried so many times & kinds… and she will just leave it there and not eat and I know that's a bad thing as well. I am talking leaving it there for at least 2 hours, and not a bite. I feed all my cats mostly wet food, But she just won't eat it. I have chose a very high protein, dry cat food made with free range chickens for my cats' snacks…. And this is what she eats as well. I try to play with her with a toy she likes on a wand…. But she can't really jump but she does lift her body up to grab at it. I know it's not enough, and I also know wet food would help her… but she just won't need it, darn it!
    How do you think I can help her lose weight, thanks!

20. You need to do a lot of math and research to learn what a cat needs for food. Spay/Neuter can decrease the intake 25%. Also each cats different. Some of these cats at 20lbs may be in range. Not kidding. Frame is a huge a deal. If it’s just a American Domestic and it was crossed with a Maine Coon or has a large frame then flat out expect the cat to weigh more. Some cats naturally have large frames which will cause them to weigh more. Also thyroid can cause weight gain or loss.

    I use an auto feeder. The app would recommend 94 grams of food based on his weight and food. He actually only eats 55 grams. Based on my research and math and what I know about him. Auto feeders are a huge plus to the market. You want small portions 3 to 4 times a day. Minimum twice daily.

    So many factors go into it. I usually say to go the vet for a check up before undertaking any of the science yourself. If the cat has an underlying issue it doesn’t matter what you do. Until that is corrected.

    Formula: Number of calories needed to lose weight = RER x 0.8. Example Calculation for a 15-pound cat who should weigh 10 pounds: 10 pounds/2.2 = 4.5 kilograms (ideal weight in kilograms) RER = 30 x 4.5 + 70 = 206 kcal/day.

    Take everything with a grain of salt since each cats different. But trust me if you listen to the ideas and suggestions and pay attention to your cat. You can get them to an ideal weight.

    I have a cat he’s gray with a bit of white on his belly. 21.6 lbs. Smaller apartment he gained weight. Ideally about 17lbs. First thing everyone says man he’s big not fat. At first the vet said overweight years ago then they measured him etc. Nope he was about spot on at 17lbs. I still consider that number today as his ideal weight. He’s less active so with a few adjustments to food and adding exercise and probably another check up I can get him down slowly.

    The first tip is to get to a vet etc. Find out what the cat should weigh based on his size and breed. Then look for any conditions. Then go from their.
