  1. My senior dog had a litter 9 weeks ago and she is now showing symptoms of Cushings. She has patches of hair loss and she drinks a lot of water, she’s been having accidents inside the house( which would never happen, all my dogs are highly trained) she has a huge and stiff pot belly. I’m afraid it’s too late to start her on the melatonin and she would require surgery or expensive treatments. I would really appreciate a response from you. Love and appreciate all the knowledge you give us❤️

  2. Hi there I’m in NZ with a 10 year old Bichon who has all the symptoms of Cushing disease pot belly, excessive thirst and urination and panting.
He hasn’t lost body hair but has two benign lumps towards his rear on the top of his back I’m unsure if they are related.

My question is I want to go out and get the melatonin straight away and start but I don’t know if it should be a particular brand, how many mg per capsule. He’s 7 kg exactly. Thank-you in advance for your valued advise ❤🐾

  3. But what if the dog has a pituitary or adrenal tumor? Are you saying after the tumor has been addressed you can use this?

  4. But I read it could be either due to a pituitary gland issue or an adrenal gland issue. You’d still need proper diagnostics to see if this home remedy is a possible treatment for your dog.

  5. My American bulldog just turned 9 and the last few weeks hes been panting loads and restless, stomach is a little swollen and when he goes poop afterwards hes peeing loads and keeps going every few steps and then hes ok . He will be ok for a few days and that weeing thing happens again where he keeps going with little dribbles coming out . Im wondering if its cushings?

  6. But can I give melatonin to my dog with other medications .. my vet won’t advise me on the taking of melatonin. And I’ve read it can cause interactions with other meds ..

  8. Trying this on my dog. Not only is the Vet medication expensive but there is a long list of nasty side-effects.

  9. I’d like to know what to do for my golden with liver enzymes that are off the chart. I don’t want to put her through a bunch of testing and the meds that could follow.

  10. I’m a woman with Cushings Disease and sadly my diagnosis didn’t come for 16 YEARS. Horrific disease when left untreated for so long, lots of damage done that is irreversible
But sleep hormone melatonin is not going to do anything AT ALL for a dog or a human with Cushings Disease. As a VET, you should KNOW BETTER. How’s Melatonin going to impact the lack of negative feedback??? Wild….social media is wild.
Melatonin does not block ACTH production!!!!!

  11. Just FYI, I know from my experience that Nature Made melatonin is very good, and the plain tablet comes in many dosage amounts (3mg to 10mg). Plus, less fillers with the tablet, and it's dinky! Easy to swallow and no side effects that I personally know of….but you be the judge of what your pet needs.

  12. Please help me. I have a question. My 13-year- old Giant Schnoodle has always wanted to drink water excessively ( ever since she was a puppy) but we never gave in to her obsession. Recently she started desperately wanting more water to the point where she goes outside and licks the morning dew off the grass and just searches desperately for puddles, etc. She wants more water than she needs. She could drink and drink, and I’ve even tested it out to see what would happen and she will drink and not stop until she throws up. I took her to the vet and spent almost $1000 on tests. They came back with saying they think she probably has Cushing’s disease ( but they didn’t seem like it was definitive ) and gave me some sort of medication to give her. The only symptoms she has of this is excessive drinking and she’s not been able to hold her urine lately, which has never been a problem for her. I am not giving her more water than what she requires and she still can’t hold her urine. She does not have a potbelly or any hair loss. Could the vet be wrong? I hate to medicate her if she doesn’t have this disease and I haven’t seen any Improvement anyway. I don’t know what to do but every time I turn around, she’s either thirsty or peeing on the floor. And again she has never had inside accidents. 😢

  13. Dr thannk you so much…I followed this advice and the melatonin has been amazing..im in south africa and came across your video..tried ouy of desperation as the vet costs were just not doable. I am seeing such improvement after 2 months and his hair is even coming back…my boy is a 11 year old Bouvier named Mr Darcy..thank you so much❤❤
