My Friend is TYPE A DIABETE'S. He's on 3 too 4 Times a Day INSULIN SHOTS. Is this CURABLE ?
From reading the diabetes posts and comments on reddit, I found that most diabetics are perfectly fine taking metformin and insulin for the rest of their lives. They shit on those that post about having reversed diabetes and say that they're merely in "remission". They call Dr. Fung a quack and question his credentials because he's a nephrologist rather than an endocrinologist. These diabetics are the most fatalistic asswipes you'd ever want to meet.
@ 3:10 Dr seems to be explaining that having high glucose levels in your blood is merely a symptom of the disease. The doctor then goes on to explain that the various other ailments such as the cardiovascular, kidney etc are caused as a result of insulin resistance and curing the symptom namely high blood sugar levels does not really solve the problem. While it is true that resistance to insulin is the disease, and it must be cured rather than taking medication for reducing blood sugar levels, but it is equally true that the ailments that the Dr speaks of are a consequence of increased blood sugar levels and not as a consequence of increased insulin levels in the body. I have not yet come across any studies which indicates that insulin as a hormone is the direct cause of the cardiovascular, kidney etc related ailments. I would be most grateful if the doctor or any other reader can direct me to any relevant material which indicates that it is not the high blood sugar levels but the increased insulin in the body which is the cause. The point that I am making is, it may not be completely fair to say that the line of treatment being suggested by various doctors to lower blood sugar levels is as flippant as “giving more alcohol to an alcoholic to cure alcoholism “

Slight correction: Even Type 2 Diabetes patients can need Insulin in the short term to even survive. Yes, Insulin is bad, but extremely high blood sugar is even worse. Just sayin'.

The sad part of all this is that many physicians know what Dr. Fung is saying is true. Physicians are afraid that if they tell their patients the truth against pharmaceutical interests that their license will be suspended.
