I'm big on hill walking because flat walking is too easy, and my old-guy knees have vetoed jogging.
The main thing is walking has a cap on it, and you can only incline so much before gravity says GFTO. On the incline as you lose weight your caloric burn will start to stagnate and even be less. Running as you lose weight and go from 15 min/mi to 10, to 6 min/mi you burn more calories in a given time for covering more miles, all while the perceived effort goes down too, and your body will be able to utilize more fat compared to carbs as you improve anyways. Hell, you can even progress to incline running and start working thatβ¦fools
So what you burn now you crave the opposite later?
This is actually great news cause it means
1 we can burn calories throughout the day without even noticing as we run errands ecc

I do incline walking because I actually prefer walking at home but we have coyotes so I can't walk at night, so incline mimics how walking would be at home.
I do hybrid strength training and marathon training. As well as an active job / lifestyle. Loss 50 pounds and kept it. Just watch what you eat. Prioritized protein and whole natural foods. Be in a slight deficit and you will be fine.
Moral of the story: THERE ARE NO HACKS. Exercise and eating well aren't a temporary "diet" thing. You balance your energy budget, that's it. Everything else is excuses

Cal def is the key. Learn TDEE+Meal cal count. You still lose fat without exercise.
