Antipsychotics are even worse.
I lost a ton of weight on what I take. But what works for one may not work for another. It really took care of my depression though. I was in really bad shape. 😊😊😊A total train wreck and now I “m better. I’m 95 pounds and I can’t complain.
I lost weight
You should worry about everything on antidepressants 😮
One of many reasons why I’ll never understand why these drugs are offered out like sweets by doctors for people with anxiety. I can appreciate that they may help some people but the majority of cases of people takin this stuff I only hear bad news… emotional blunting, sexual dysfunction (permanent in some cases), weight gain, little to no desired effect. Surely, relying on no daily medication and having medication to take sparingly and optionally would be more suitable for many individuals. How is one truly tackling their condition if they’re constantly under the influence of a mind altering medication? If it helps it helps I just think it’s very odd how this is usually first line of treatment for certain individuals with anxiety, panic disorder etc.
Doctors do not tell you about the weight gain. Then tell you need to lose the weight. And don't explain the weight gain is from antidepressants. I was going to gym 2x a day. A nurse waited for the doctor to leave the room then explained it to me very quickly and quietly.
Weight gain will become the least of your problems on these meds.
Back in Q1 2015, I got placed on Citalopram for the first time. I weighed 150 lbs. and then by Q3 2017, I weighed 200 lbs. I decided to get off of it around this time; but I never associated my weight gain with the medication.
In Q2 2022, I decided to get back on the medication. At this point in time, I weighed 240 lbs. Now it's Q1 2024, I'm 300 lbs. Now that I see the correlation, I have decided to get off of it for good this time.
Yes, worry!
Is it easy to lose the weight after u stop?? I was on Citalopram 9years and gained over 3stone. Ive been off them 2.5weeks and my appetite has already dropped, hoping to lose some weight
My psych told me not to worry about weight gain. She told me that what I researched and shared with her was wrong. As I was gaining weight on my antidepressant, I told her I was gaining weight, and she denied it. Finally, I demanded to take me off the antidepressant bc I gained FORTY POUNDS. THEN SHE TOLD ME "OH YEAH, MY CLIENTS TOLD ME THEY GAINED WEIGHT ON THIS MEDICATION!!!" ARE… YOU… KIDDING ME?! It's been a solid year, and I still can't shed this weight gain. Never again.
Yes you should !
I only take them occasionally to calm down my mood I gained like 30 pounds .
And no I don’t excerise and the problem is I used to never need to excerise because my job is a standing job
And now even sleeping and seeing me having a belly does not feel comfortable.
Appearance is an issue but also how you feel . If you are skinny Al your life and out on weights does makes you feel uncomfortable
And not to mention also acne as well . I am already feel depressed and unattractive thanks for making me feeling more like that
I was a skinny guy back in 2021 then I get these anxiety and depression problems and my doctor recommended several types of medicine and currently I’m taking Prozac everyday and now I became a fat guy even my face looks fat and I don’t know how to manage it because I exercise everyday but I can’t control my cravings while on this medicine.
Yes. Ssris do it too. It is not great.
Of course they can cause weight gain specially the SSRIs. If they increase serotonin it's unavoidable they will decrease dopamine and this will cascade to less LH and less testosterone therefore you gain fat more easy. That's also why your peter won't work the same than before taking these meds
Was 93kg, now I'm 112kg and I've been on Sertraline for years. Getting off of them slowly to avoid unwanted withdrawal symptoms
Thanks for assuaging my fears in such an aggressive and urgent manner!!
