Short Story: Do you know the Nacirema tribe?

Acedimic Inc. This paper shocked the academic world since it was the first to take care of a people called the Nacirema.
But the Nacirema does not actually exist. It is ‘American’ led to backwards. And the ‘mouth-rite’ mentioned in this paper is a summary of cleaning teeth. So why were numerous individuals tricked by his paper? This has to do with exactly how much regard we treat individuals called ‘professionals’.
He made use of the authority of fellow scholars to add weight to his debate. He pointed out the looks into of prominent teachers such as Linton, Malinowski, and Murdock in his paper. We often tend to definitely rely on the reasoning of ‘specialists’, and this paper shows us that we should watch out for this idea.

  1. I really didn't know that Nacirema was America spelled backwards, thank you for your summary

  2. what the fuck when i read the article, I thought it was about an actual tribe. this just blew my mind. and Nacirema is just backwards American. i am stupid

  3. I now feel less intelligent for having heard and witnessed this abhorrent filth I'm sure you consider to be art. It is blasphemous and makes a mockery of modern civilization. It compares restrooms to shrines, and talks of holiness of things and people that have nothing at all to do with that which is holy…… Anyone who is a part of this lack of intelligence should just end it right now….

  4. Holy shit the way this is written is annoying. I remember hearing this in high school, getting the joke, and wishing it would end.

  5. For someone who had no idea what a "Nacirema" is, and was only looking for answers, I have never been this misled.

  6. This jus saved me a whole lot of time assignment doneπŸ’ƒπŸΏπŸ’ƒπŸΏπŸ’ƒπŸΏπŸ’ƒπŸΏ

  7. As a south nacirema I don't like that the north naciremas keep sending spies to our lands.
Let our tribes elect our own tribe leaders for once…

  8. In my sociology class, we read the article first and a lot of my classmates were appalled by the Nacirema. I think after watching this video they understood, but some of them still didn't get it. They now think the Nacirema were a real tribe πŸ™

  9. i remember reading it back in 2013 when i was in my anthro 101 class. i was inspired a lot.

  10. Amazing troll, but it’s really a description of the issues of anthropology with the study of β€œothers”
