  5. How do you stop your body from using muscle mass as fuel?
    My total cholesterol is well under 200 but my LDL is 135. I started intermittent fasting 9 days ago and lost 6 pounds. Theres no way thats 6 pounds of fat. My shirts normally fit tight around my biceps. I feel like they arent as snug in that area now. Im worried my body is burning muscle mass.
    I do believe my waist is getting smaller. My duty belt at work is very front heavy. Thats where i keep my handcuffs, extra mags, ect. I got lazy and stopped using all my belt keepers since the belt fit tight. Now i noticed its dropping down in the front. Back to the belt keeper's.
    I dont think im doing the 16:8 correctly either.. its more like 21:3 LOL.
    From what ive read after 12 to 14 hrs the body switches gears and starts using fat for energy. So i guess in my mind, why break the fast at 16hrs. Keep going and burn more fat.

    Hope this works. My weight was 186. Its now 180. A good healthy weight for me is 165 to 170. Id rather get to that weight by losing fat, not muscle.

  11. I strongly STRONGLY recommend drinking coffee or tea (plain) along with the fast. They both help with digestion and also cuts your hunger cravings and will keep your energy levels high. Also coffee and tea both neutralize free radicals in the body aiding in cancer prevention, dementia and some other diseases. Coffee is a miracle drug!!

  12. I have been doing the 16:8 for 3 months. I was hoping to lose 5 to 7 pounds. I didn't lose weight, however, my belly is smaller than before. I eat the same food I used to eat everyday. The only change I made to my diet was to eat a fruit for breakfast instead of cereal.

I am now eating tons of low carb food but almost too much and it really isn't helping that much. I am not overeating because I can't help it. It's just to maintain weight. Thank god I gained about a pound but it's not working. How much should one be eating. at 5 foot 1, I am now doing about 26 or more carbs just to maintain. 23 wasn't working as I just kept getting skinnier as far as my muscles. Doing Keto, not dirty Keto
